Well, what can I say about this film?
I went to see it the other night, on an Orange Wednesday, with Jonathan.
So, there’s an unsettling start, with shaky news desk style images and rather plain people chatting about ‘what happened’.
We then get introduced to this obnoxious character who is propelled into an important job by nepotism; via his father-in-law.
Hints are given about the ‘dumb’ aliens and their ‘disgusting’ habits and we see the lawlessness of District 9.
Bigotry, fear and loathing are the order of the day as the ‘prawns’ merely exist in their camp; slum dogs of an alien nation.
What a surprise is in store as our hapless anti-hero begins to change – for the better.
We then get a treat of sci-fi sfx to rival any blockbuster and through it all a human/inhuman tale which provokes and inspires – in the same mould as Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?).
Great film with depth and action too.
